Maceio

Miss Bevan and I have now arrived in Maceio, in the state of Alagoas. (Can you find it on the map?) Maceio (pronounced Ma-say-o) has a long stretch of beach on the coast, which is very beautiful.

We will be staying here for the next four weeks because we are going to do some voluntary work in a school. Voluntary work is when you do some work to help someone without being paid. Can you think of a time when you helped someone?

We will be helping the children to learn English and teaching them about England. What kinds of things do you think the children would find interesting about England?

The school is called Starfish School (Escola Estrela do Mar). The school is run by donations from charities and I will be talking about lots more about it over the next month. For now you can find out lots more on the school website:
